Introduction

Deb and I currently live in West Virginia. We are life long boaters, divers and have traveled extensively. We first visited the Virgin Islands in 2002 on a week long charter. Well, after a few days of sun and sail it became painfully obvious to us that we were living in the wrong part of the world. So, we decided that it would be a great idea to move to the Islands. Well of course we went home and fell right back into work, friends, hobbies, etc. Fast forward to 2005, we decide that it's time for another charter in the islands. This time we came down for ten days. We spent a few days in St Thomas then a week long charter; we again decided that we were still living in the wrong part of the world. Then it's back to work, friends, hobbies, etc. Then in 2006 we came back to St Thomas for Thanksgiving; notice the visits are getting closer together. We spent about a week in St Thomas and started getting a little more serious about our plans. We found a job posting at UVI for a computer programmer at the University. I joked and asked Deb if she wanted a job in Paradise, she didn't think that I was serious. When we got home she sent in her resume and shortly there after had her first interview set up for February when we were returning for a ten day stay; the visits are getting closer together now. February 2007 we spent two days on St Thomas, one on Jost VanDyke, then a week on St John. Deb took the Ferry from St. John for her interview. It went well even though the job she applied for had already been filled internally. But, there were going to be additional openings later in the year and they were very interested in talking to her about them, "job offer soon come". Fast forward again to the Thanksgiving. We were back down for six days and another interview for Deb at UVI. She had the interview on Tuesday morning, she started to doubt herself, and on Thursday they called and offered her the job! Well this is where the fun starts. We actually had made some financial and personal moves prior to this to get ready to move, but the real scrambling starts now. She is starting the job on Feb 1, 2008 and we are running around like chickens with cut off heads to get everything ready. I suspect I will know the US Air flight crews by first name in a month or two as I button up my business here and get situated there.
