Sahara Dust

Sahara Dust, originally uploaded by captainjay.
Crazy hazy out today. Been this way for several days now. The Sahara dust has arrived.

More info:

This pic shows the Sahara Dust layer in the atmosphere. Currently the caribbean is covered in red and a much larger area of dust seems to be headed our way.

I believe this helps retard the formation of hurricanes. Once the dust settles...you are in for some storms.

Good Evening! I have been on St. John for almost 13 years. Have you read 'Don't Stop the Carnival' by Herman Wouk? If not, I highly recommend it to ANYONE considering moving to an island 'paradise'. It's all true....and then some! What will you be doing on St. Thomas? Also suggest you go online to the Daily News to get an idea of what's going on here - especially today's issues (7/13/10)
Best of luck! Pam on STJ

Hi Pam. We've been living on STT for 2 1/2 years now. So we know about the "goings on" on island. But we definitely read everything we could before moving here and suggest the same to anyone else that's thinking about it. Oh, and we definitely read Don't Stop the Carnival, great book :-)
